Diamonds with a Story

This press just in….

Just got back to the studio from a fantastic trip to Las Vegas where I was shown “The Royal” treatment as featured Canadian diamond designer in Rio Tinto’s “Diamonds with a Story” campaign at the world’s most prestigious jewellery industry show JCK/Luxury at Mandalay Bay.  Rio Tinto is a mega natural resource corporation who has stakes in many diamond mines including Diavik Diamond Mine in Canada and Argyle Mine in Australia.  The Royals Collection, displayed at the show is inspired by the royal wedding of William and Kate.  The Royals consists of Round, Princess and Marquis Canadian Diamond centre stone engagement rings that uniquely fit with bands and Achievement Rings that interlock to create many fabulous sparkly stacks.  I’ve spent many years behind the counter helping couples choose the perfect style and the versatility of these rings makes it so much fun and there is always a great reaction from my clients.  There are literally endless variations to guarantee a look all your own.

Spring Open House

April Flower ring winner!

Congratulations to the flower ring winner, Jen Greenman!

April is a time of rejuvenation, and so it is here at the studio.  Renewing  friendships, designing new collections and the feeling of hope that washes over us with the fresh scent of thawing gardens and budding trees. Our participation at the One of a Kind Show allowed me to introduce my new “Blushing Hearts” line, which was very well received by patrons on the hunt for unique and fun creations. The full collection will be launched here in the coming weeks, so be sure to keep an eye out (and a finger available;) Speaking of things kept close to the heart, I was delighted to rejoin the exhibitor family, as well as reconnect with treasured clients. It’s an amazing feeling to see my work given life by the wearer, and hear the story the piece represents. To top it all off, I even earned first place in the OOAK Bunny Rabbit theme contest. Jewellery lovers were seemingly out in abundance! Hundreds of them stopped by to peek in my cases, with more than 300 entering in a draw for the coveted flower ring. Jen Greenman was the lucky girl to have her name pulled from the vase, but really all those who entered are winners as they now have a spot on my exclusive invitational list and it just so happens, we have such an event taking place. Right here at our studio May 8th through  11th will be our Spring Open House so be sure to save the date.

Plus…I am thrilled to be a part of an exhibition at  Harbourfront Centre opening on April 19. Family Album will display jewellery and metal work from various alumni of the Centre’s Artist-in-Residency Programme in conjunction with the SNAG conference and Toronto International Jewellery Festival, a monumental occasion with plenty of exciting events and shows to take in, so check out the site for more details!  And lastly, if you are lucky enough to be celebrating a birthday this month  (like me) remind everyone that April’s birthstone is Canadian Diamond!

One of a Kind Spring Show and Sale

If you’ve been to the One of a Kind Show it would be redundant to explain how incredible it is to see over 450 exhibitors with hand made one of a kind objects all ready to show what they are made of.  This venue is a favourite of mine and I’m excited to announce that we will be there in Booth M12!  As if this isn’t enough, the One of a Kind marketing team has asked me to be one of the privileged few to be in their Spring 2013 marketing campaign.  A story from the studio is in the  Gift Guide as well as images in the massive ad campaign and website promotion.  We are busy getting ready for this and want you to be able to come and join the fun.  Why not skip the line and purchase discount tickets ahead of time and save $3 each.

rose gold rings

Have you ever wondered what makes gold pink?  Well, back in grade five art class you may have made a colour wheel and this lesson taught us the concept of colour mixing. With precious gold alloys it’s basically the same. Replace the silver with rich red copper and the hue is changed!
